Washington’s King County commissioned a new pedestrian crossing adjacent to Sound Transit’s new East Link Wilburton Station. The new bridge will provide commuters, shoppers and residents with a safe crossing of one of the Bellevue’s busiest intersections. To further stitch together the community, the new bridge provides a unique viewing point featuring integrated art and storytelling in this vital new connection to the region’s new light-rail system.

The 200-foot span truss and 544-feet of approach ramps and connections are constructed of hollow steel tube with concrete decking and feature an innovative perforated aluminum panel screen system. The aluminum panels—in partnership with an integrated interpretive installation—are inspired by the region’s rich Japanese cultural heritage.
