The new Mathewson Gateway College of Business is part of a significant new development at the University of Nevada-Reno that acts as a bridge between the university and the City of Reno. Establishing a welcoming gateway, the 128,000-square-foot building draws the community in, creating a new front door on the university’s southern perimeter.
The new home for UNR’s College of Business, the five-story building features a permeable design that welcomes people from both its urban- and campus-facing fronts, combining traditional building elements with more contemporary design aspects to express its bridge condition. Targeting LEED Gold, the building combines classrooms, computer labs, and auditoriums with social spaces including a cafeteria and outdoor terraces, serving both public engagement and academic needs.
