The John & Marcia Price Computing & Engineering Building is a new nexus for the Kahlert School of Computing at the University of Utah, serving as a catalyst for innovative research and enriching the student experience. The building’s composition contrasts solid and void-like elements, with distinct masses expressed in brick delineating private research and office spaces, and transparent glazed “fissures” between the masses demarcating shared collaboration areas. The first floor is devoted to large-scale lecture halls, while the second floor is the undergraduate student hub with classrooms, project rooms, and a maker lab. Research facilities comprise the third and fourth floors, along with a top floor event space. Beyond its functional attributes, the building is envisioned as a campus destination to welcome one and all.
