Seattle, Washington – March 11, 2024 – LMN Architects is pleased to announce the addition of Jenn Chen to the firm partnership. The addition to the firm’s leadership underscores LMN’s commitment to cultivating an interdisciplinary practice where the design approach continues to evolve.

The first interior designer to join the firm’s partnership, Jenn Chen brings a decade of design experience with a focus on experiential and sustainable interior design. The addition of Jenn to the partnership at LMN is a significant step forward for the firm’s commitment to a cross-disciplinary practice, cultivating a culture of multidisciplinary dialogue and expanding its capacity to address complex, multifaceted design challenges.

Over the past eight years at LMN, Jenn’s curiosity for new design possibilities that serve both people and the planet, her deep desire to understand how people experience and interact with the built environment, and her commitment to incorporating diverse perspectives into the design process has enabled her to uncover new creative solutions. Working alongside community groups, clients, and collaborators from all backgrounds, Jenn’s collaborative approach has led to innovative designs that meet the unique challenges of today’s world. Her dedication to creating story-driven, healthy, and sustainable design has elevated the firm’s work and helped move the firm into new market sectors with projects such as the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business at Clemson University, Hines Seattle Headquarters, and a 700,000-square-foot technology company campus, one of the firm’s largest workplace projects to date.

“LMN is thrilled to have Jenn join the partnership,” says Partner Pamela Trevithick. “She is the first interior designer to embrace this role and brings a unique perspective that no other partner has. Jenn is a well-rounded interior designer, is passionate about sustainability, and is a national leader focused on circular economy and carbon reduction. She is thoughtful, conscientious, and committed to mentoring other emerging professionals within the firm. We look forward to the positive impacts she will have within the partnership and on the future of LMN.”

A co-creator of the firm’s Path to Zero Carbon series, which is focused on sharing research, summarizing, and prioritizing actions to reach carbon neutrality, and a leading member of the firm’s Materials & Health Applied Research Team, Jenn has played a critical role in advancing LMN’s commitment to sustainability. Jenn’s inquisitiveness led to foundational research in interior design’s role in lowering embodied carbon in the built environment, which broadened the conversation about low embodied carbon design in the industry, and her ongoing quest to find improved ways of doing things led to implementation of circular design strategies at LMN that drastically lowered embodied carbon on her projects. She has shared the firm’s research at conferences including Greenbuild, CarbonPositive, as well as other venues across the country.

Jenn earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Bellevue College. With the addition of Jenn Chen to the partnership, LMN can advance new ways of working and create even more sustainable designs, while fostering research and curiosity within a truly interdisciplinary design studio.
