LMN History

LMN founding partners, circa 1990

George Loschky, Judsen Marquardt and John Nesholm founded LMN in 1979 around a collaborative design approach that serves people first and builds communities around civic projects. While George, John and Jud each brought their unique perspectives to the partnership, they were collectively inspired by the power of architecture to strengthen civic identity and vitalize urban places. Ever since, the firm’s overriding focus has been to wed design of our projects to the life of their cities and communities. While the variety of project types and program uses has grown over the years, commitment to the public realm experience continues to permeate all aspects of our work.

From the beginning, LMN was conceived as a continuing partnership, with a progression of leadership dedicated to advancing LMN’s core principles and deep engagement in contemporary urban issues. In addition to the three founders, former LMN partners include Rob Widmeyer and Chris Eseman. Rob, Chris and John Nesholm remain fully engaged in our practice.
