Next Thursday, June 23rd – as part of the continued AIA Seattle 2011 Series on Craft – is the full day forum entitled WhichCraft? Dialogs. A day of panel presentations and dialogues will explore the multiple definitions of Craft for architects and help to explore directions for future work. In the morning, Dan will take part in the panel discussion called “speculativeCraft,” moderated by Kimo Griggs of the University of Washington. The panel – including Matt Amend of the Boeing Rapid Prototyping Lab and Martin Houston of Walsh Construction‘s R&D Lab – will be about diverse research investigations into different processes of making – from digital tools within private enterprise and academia, to R&D of one-off prototyping of materials assemblies throughout local construction and design industries. Dan will talk about the LMNts approach to design technology and how it operates in the broader practice of LMN. Check out the program schedule for the entire day.
