San Jose Convention Center Expansion
The design of this convention center expansion infuses dynamic, socially active program activities within the life of the surrounding cultural district, and provides a new powerful civic presence within San Jose’s urban core.
Developed through a hybrid approach that integrates building form, landscape and urban ecology, the architectural expression embraces the city’s world prominence in technology, its agrarian history, Mediterranean climate and commitment to environmental sustainability. The new signature ballroom exerts an interactive, “smart building” presence juxtaposed against lushly landscaped public plazas, courtyards and surrounding urban green space.
Innovative design solutions establish a new standard for technically advanced and highly flexible meeting and event spaces that address the extremely diverse needs of the San Jose region, and—more broadly—the rapidly evolving market dynamics of urban convention centers.
