Centrally located amidst the cultural and civic hub of downtown Bellingham, the historic Mount Baker Theatre is a nationally recognized landmark building. Phase one of a three-part renovation transformed former condominium storefront into new theater support space.

Connected to the original theater lobby, a 200-seat multi-purpose studio theater was created to accommodate a variety of performances from major touring productions to smaller community events. New back-of-house spaces include principal and chorus dressing rooms with shower facilities, a greenroom, wardrobe and ample storage space, along with direct access to the main stage.

Renovation of the exterior of the building was done with careful respect for the original 1920’s design and included restoration of the original sandstone facade and tile parapet as well as a storefront system that honors the original. The thoughtful renovation assures the historic theater’s permanent and useful place in the cultural life of the community.
