Headquarters Office Building
The Headquarters building is the centerpiece of the Boeing campus, embracing both its future and past. The design embodies the company’s progressive workplace practices and celebrates Boeing’s historical role in aerospace innovation.
An expansive suspended glass wall distinguishes the exterior of the building and dramatizes the experience of the building entry and the lobby. An allusion to flight, the aerodynamic shapes suggest the stressed skin panels of modern aircraft assembly, and stainless steel rigging recalls the wing struts and cables of Boeing’s early biplanes.
The building’s floor plate design reinforces office planning that cultivates the company’s culture of flexibility and collaboration, and supports the transition of its workflow to a multi-disciplinary team-based approach in customer service. The work environments are open with the perimeter left free for circulation, providing opportunities for informal team gathering areas and maximizing access to daylight and views. A central stair opening filters daylight into the core of the building and organizes circulation between floor levels to facilitate information exchange and interaction across focus groups.
