Sports Expertise

Sports facilities, like performing arts centers and other public gathering spaces, require a design that maximizes sense of drama. While the sporting event is the generator of fan excitement, the architecture should nurture the spirit of shared emotion. An optimum balance must be established between functionality and flexibility, accommodating the specific programmatic needs of each sport while maximizing the overall economic potential of the facility.

Sports projects provide an ideal match to the strengths of our firm, in particular the ability to integrate highly specific functional requirements and assembly occupancies with unique characteristics of campus and urban environments, creating community venues expressive of their unique purpose and place. We have created many successful and award-winning recreation complexes, campus and collegiate facilities, community events centers, and professional sports

arenas—encompassing both new and renovation projects.

Because of our deep understanding of public events facilities, such as performing arts and convention centers, we are able to leverage the multiple disciplines of our studio in the analysis of the user experience on our sports assignments. This ensures that all aspects of the user experience—from urban design to materiality of building interiors—are comprehensively integrated with innovative design solutions where the drama of the event resonates through the experience of the architecture.
