Education Expertise

For many years LMN has been deeply immersed in the analysis of how the culture of higher education programs can be effectively supported and nourished by their physical environments. The knowledge and ideas we gain from each project continually advance this understanding, lending further insight into not only facility program and technical requirements, but the implications of specific academic culture and social dynamics on architectural possibilities.

LMN’s programming and design work includes more than 90 higher education projects on 26 university and college campuses, ranging from major new buildings to adaptive re-use of existing facilities, and new campus master plans to precinct planning studies. A passionate commitment to support the unique character and vision of each campus underlies our work, cultivated through the long-term relationships we develop with higher education clients and users.

Our recent work includes a broad spectrum of specialized and multi-disciplinary programs in the creation of highly interactive learning environments, seeking synergistic design solutions responsive to specific program needs and essential campus influences. We respond to these opportunities with a collaborative, research-based approach that encompasses program functionality; site and environmental conditions; systems technology; quality of space; and architectural expression to produce innovative design solutions that enrich the overall educational experience.
